An authentic representative of New York’s diverse and eccentric culture, Brooklyn-based artist Pretty Rox’s definitive east-coast sound carries a message brimming with joy and change. From DJing to rapping, the city shaped her music, and it’s now time for her to give back to the concrete jungle that nurtured her sonic talents.
Citing influence from the likes of Melvin Harrold, Marvin Gaye, Stevie Wonder, and an array of gospel singers, Pretty Rox draws on the triumphs through tribulations from her own life story, to speak truths about the positives that she has learned in life. Unique to the core, teeming with talent, and with the ability to create positivity in the toughest of times, Pretty Rox is on to something timeless.
Listening to artists such as Biggie, Foxy, Lil Kim, and Jay Z in her teens, Rox was inspired to start jotting down her own bars back in 9th grade. Quick freestyles and rap battles became centric to her high school years, and although she took a hiatus from releasing music in her 20s, this love and appreciation for music never failed to leave her side.
Pretty Rox sets off on a mission to reignite her music career as a response to the atrocities that the COVID-19 pandemic brought. Tracks such as ‘RNS’, ‘Sweet Heaven’, ‘Woke’ and ‘Money Go Round’ have primed her long-overdue return to the industry.
